Punk Research? ACTION TIME VISION
About a week ago from now I have been given a essay project at my graphic design/ illustration course at university. The overall project consisted of the students choosing as to which graphic path we want to discuss individually, Naturally I chose Punk Design. Opening the discussion of, Is punk dead? How are aspects of Punk Design seen today and the practitioners of this approach.
Starting my research on the web was easy but, as any research, there wasn't a clear line of original works and fan made. Looking in the library, there aren't as many options as you would imagine. If your having a struggle or just want to have a visual orgasm of Punk Design. I would suggest a book entitled: ACTION TIME VISION. In which the overall book highlights the collections of physical material from Russ Bentley & Tony Brook.
If you're asking for even more information than just visual examples there are interviews within the starting section of the book. Interviews documenting Malcolm Garrett's approach to visual culture and punk design, Mark Perry's process for the ATV sleeves and Russ Bestley's three minute heroes.
